Re: 1/9 Italeri Harley WLA 750
Thanks guys but was it all worth the effort
I have gone for Tamiya Italian Red Lacquer for the paint, not used it before and sprayed in on the Deck outside in the sun. A Coat of Zero primer first then a few layers of the red followed later by Zero clear lacquer. The red is so bright its hard to get a photo
The tyres were left in hot water for a minute then went over the rims very well and grip to the spoke ends, they should hopefully should bed down after a few hours.
well I think its brass or aluminium next time.

I agree about the razor.
The red shoes look great on your bike though. This build is going to be a stunner!

Re: 1/9 Italeri Harley WLA 750
I now have to make two brass ends because you can be sure the other one will also break. I have some 1.5 brass plate that I can drill and hopefully fettle into some sort of end pieces with a 1mm hole for the axle.

Re: 1/9 Italeri Harley WLA 750
I made two brass ends and glued one into the pre drilled fork then painted it black. cleaned up the small inner hub and touched it up with red paint.
This part has been so fiddley to do
when the forks are attached the bike sits on the front wheel over the edge of the bench and the fixing point for foot rests uses the frame hole for the front bench support so I'm going to leave the forks off for now with the front fork support brass rod in place till some more parts are added and the small amount of wiring is done.

Always going to get those weak spots because of scale and the plastic medium used, but you did a stirling job of saving the day. Well done.

Re: 1/9 Italeri Harley WLA 750
Nice repair on the front fork legs, and some stunning work on the rest so far.

Keith

Re: 1/9 Italeri Harley WLA 750
I was originally going to do flames on the tank but after trying four or five times to cut a mask I gave up and decided to use decals instead.
I only used the king and the hearts randomly placed over the matt black, I'm hoping to get a clear coat on later today.

Re: 1/9 Italeri Harley WLA 750
Matt black base, decals then zero clear coat
I airbrushed the rear fender edge with what was left of the Alclad chrome then clear coated with zero. Even though the airbrush had what I thought was a thorough clean I noticed while doing the fender there was still flecks of chrome present in the clear, this gave a great sparkly finish when in direct sunlight and disappeared indoor so I carried on and sprayed the tank as well.
Happy accident

Re: 1/9 Italeri Harley WLA 750
Have I been deluded all these years, I thought you could only put decals on a gloss surface or you got silvering.
It's looking great BTW loving those decals.

Re: 1/9 Italeri Harley WLA 750
fine wet sanding and a tac cloth and a I just went for it. My first idea was flames over a matt base but I chose the easy option.

Little bit more done
springs for the seat Loose till the tank is fitted and some basic wiring. Rear fender is dry fit (needs a polish)

Re: 1/9 Italeri Harley WLA 750
Tank is on but filler caps to do. I added a strip of stainless steel to the centre folded under at each end. The seat is loose for now so I can get access to the small amount of wiring.

Re: 1/9 Italeri Harley WLA 750
Forks on at last
I wish I had more time to finish her up but I'm having to grab an hour when I can at the moment, getting ready to start my new job Monday
I have a bunch more small parts to add and of course I will need to think about a chain
The fuel and oil pipes were a pain to fit
and a few choice words filled the air for half an hour
Next up is the handlebars. I gave them a coat of matt black and added gloss and matt clear, I need to add cables next to the front brake lever.
I think that's it for now guys, the rear wheel can stay on for now till I sort out a chain.
