2020 Group Build Schedule

Post by bfrd »

Ok, the voting is complete! In order to give each build 4 months of build time, they will need to overlap.

March 1st - July 31st - 80s Decade Build

June 1st - Sept. 30th - Summer Sci-Fi

Sept 1st - Dec. 31st - WW2 (Late)

All of these are builds are not sponsored. We will need members to help run the logistics for each. We will also need to figure out prizes. I will donate some kits and I suspect we have some other willing donors lurking around. :thumb2:

Nearing the end of each build we will ask for some judging volunteers.

Summer SciFi!!!!!!!!!!

I have my late WW2 kit already picked. The 80's will take some time to choose as will the scifi.

As for prizes - I don't really care if we don't have any. I just like the incentive to build!

Great stuff! I know what I'm doing for WW2, and I've got a choice of 3 for the 80's, decisions decisions!

Very excited for all three of these. Already have an idea for ScFi and The WW2, but nothing yet for the 80s, I'll figure it out :th:

Could I humbly suggest we don't worry about prizes, afterall we're scattered across the world. Could I suggest a signature badge "GB winner 2020" sort of thing that you get to keep?

How about everyone that enters donates £2 or £3 to Ultimate and the winners get vouchers to use on the Ultimate web site.
If this is ok with Paul. If not no worries.

I think I have kits for each of these builds, but may need rulings on the 80's and WWII (late) builds, I'll wait for the rules to come out before asking...

That will pretty much wipe out my stash (yes, I'm a "good boy" and don't have a ton of kits), but I do have one that I could donate to the 80's build prizes, not really an 80's themed kit, but....

I'm with the others in that no prizes given. Badge is Ok then a Honour roll kept with the winners listed as a tribute to their skill. After all some members aren't here long or there's a health issue and it's a way of remembering.

Badges are a great idea. Would one need to take part in all three builds to qualify for the GB?

Absolutely not. Each build is a separate event. You can also enter multiple builds if you like.

How about the winner chosen by a vote, all those completed get listed and a poll opened for two weeks. Any forum member gets a vote, Job done....?

I'd be willing to host and prizes and stuff if you taught me the ropes of running a SIG. It'd be egg inspired, so the world war toons stuff would count.

I did this guy a while back and I think the egg tanks should be counted.

Nope, just start a build thread after the start date! I will build the forum closer to the beginning of the GB. Just make sure you don't start the kit early.

Got min e all picked out and going to stick with a British theme atm. I have picked up a number of extra bits over the last couple of year by sheer luck and recently acquired the kit....I always do things ar** about, think I got the tracks first. Any way I'm going to do a late war Comet.
Impatiently waiting for Sept... :cheers2:

Looks like we might have a mini Comet-Fest then :)

Actually we probably need a think about what qualifies for "late war"

Anything introduced from 1944 onwards? (or later?)
Anything in a scheme from 1944 onwards? (or later? D-Day onwards?)

Just thinking out loud so there's probably other options we need to think around...

Not having read all this thread... ...If there is too many Comets I can make a change that's not a issue for me. Personally 1944 onward sounds good....makes us do some research and that is interesting in itself and adds something to the group experience rather than making it a almost anything being Ok.

I'm sure there's room for more than one Comet :) :th:

Besides I've got a couple of other things I'm toying with as well... I think the M16 was introduced in 1944 so need to do a bit of checking up on that to see if it'd qualify

yeah your good...wiki says .."The M16 MGMC entered service in early 1944"
To make it more interesting for the group I could make a change....but I'll have to think about what kit.
      :th: :th: :cheers2:

EDIT... I just had a thought about your build and not sure if it's applicable. But have you seen the quad gun using water cooling jackets. They look frigging awesome and I believe they may have been used to defend a port against the v1 flying bombs.
