Industria Mechanika 1/35 Hornethopter

Post by OneSmallStep1966 »

Build Thread HERE

After being stalled for nearly two years, I am pleased to finally present my finished Industria Mechanika 1/35 Hornethopter.
Primed in Mr Surfacer with AK Xtreme Metal and Mr Metal Color paints used for the insect body.
Vallejo Model Color was used for the figures and the wing construction was tissue paper sandwiched between laser printed OHP transparencies.
Tamiya panel line accent and oils were used for highlights here and there.
I didn’t like the kits head antenna so made new ones more reminiscent of radio transmitter aerials, and the base was quickly put together using some Early Summer mat from Model Scene recessed (with a router) into a wooden base.
One unexpected issue turned out to be the long interval of time between painting the body and finishing it. The real metal paints patina'd (like the real thing) so touch up painting proved challenging due to the different tones, but hopefully time will blend them nicely.
As I’ve come to expect from Industria Mechanika, another fantastic kit which I highly recommend if you fancy something different.

What a great build of a unique kit - I don't think I've seen anything like it before anywhere. Those wings look awesome.

Beautiful finish.

I cant believe you started this so long ago! Time really does fly.
Its been tried and tested, it works! So don't blame the system if you're no good.

Nice work! I like the vignette display. I just acquired Industria Mechanika's Waldo and Skymark kits. Hope I can do as nice a job with them as you have with the Hornethopter.
