Working with carbon fibre decals for the first time...I always call it farbon kiber just ‘cause it bugs my son :D

Harder than I thought to fold it over and keep the lines running in the right direction. Used the extra strong Ultimate decal solution and microset or sol, whichever is the red one  :
I will give the wife back her hairdryer now as that heat seems the key to folding the decals
Probably will do the mirrors and the outer side curtain areas

Ok. The tub is all glued up after some serious swearing at seatbelts🤬
Eduard Painted PE sucks donkey balls as most paint chips off when you bend it.
I also dropped two pieces of PE on the floor, found one into the garbage can and had to make one of styrene :bash: :wall:
I clear green painted the Sabelt logo and improvised extra belts for the legs

Alrightee some body paint progress
I painted the inside of the shell with Tamiya LP Aluminum
Image

Then got the first step of the green hell mango going. Three coats of #1 bottle.

Image

On layer two of #1 here I got the roof a smidge too wet with the spray and it attacked the plastic...rippled it

Image

Not much to do, let it flash of for 30 min, very light fine buff and then layer three of #1 bottle. Here it sits to dry off until tonight for the #2 bottle coats
Image

I have the vibe that this is what this particular paint colour does. It has a very neat iridescent sheen/metallic look that I can’t tell if is the paint or the surface. Certainly not a glassy smooth paint. But it looks cool. @bfrd was holding my hand all the way through painting and preventing me from doing anything too stupid and rash. Dude has some long arms to reach from Texas!

That color looks so cool! You did a sweet job with the paint. :th:  : This makes me want to give Splash another go.

I have not had success with Splash yet. I think I am to impatient on my end. :bash: My very 1st time was with that Vallejo primer :wall: It all puckered on the body and looked like crap. 2nd was with a spoon. I need to primer one of the plastic plates we have and try. I have deep blue Pearl and Rosso Corsa Met

Had a chat with a guy on FB last week and he mentioned building a GT3 with a PE upgrade kit
I looked it up and found I could print the instructions out...so I did.

Image

Then I used them as a guide to make the racing netting out of tape which I will paint and detail

oooh , thats smarts, I love the low techy techy hacks.
That could be done out of the woven type of seatbelt material no ? or would that be too thick ? Just wondering as I was thinking of getting some for my next car build, never used the stuff before.

Absolutely
Guys are making belts out of 2 or 3 mm double sided ribbon
The yellow washi tape was just there. Hmmm I have some black hockey tape that has a bit more woven look to it, might try that

More of my Beast saga
Carbon fibre decal on the top of the dash....it looked too boring grey
I used Paul’s Setting solution “strong”, then some hairdryer heat, then some micro sol (red) and more heat.
Took a few cycles to wrap around the edges and I had some tears that i repaired with an off cut of decal and blended the wavy black pattern to match

Image

Image

Image

Image

Image

So much better visual balance than with the grey dash

Man!! Lovin' all the detail - I do good to build it with all the bits that are in the box. You've inspired me to get some of that CF decal stuff to use on the bike.

Lookin' for more updates

Little things make a big difference indeed
You don’t always need to go buy an expensive PE set either...half the time you can’t use 80% of it due to poor instructions or just too fiddley

-the carbon fiber on the dash really makes it pop! Sweet work and excellent choice on the combination. You are setting a high standard for the rest of us :)

Good Friday and I moved the body into clear coat
I didn’t put any decals on as I am still not sure what I want to finish her off like. They can go on after
