#42 Pinch Hitter

Post by bfrd »

Still having a hard time getting back to the b1-b, but I found a little bomber that I thought I would build.

Image

Image

I first primed everything in olive green (badger). There are few parts, but they fit together nicely. The kit doesn’t have any decals only stickers, so I will be doing some masking.

Image

Shouldn’t be too hard to get finished. Hopefully it will give my mojo a boost.

I decided to do a tiny bit of modification by drilling out the gun barrels.

I used a cheap Chinese drill.

There are also some barrels on the fuselage.

Changed my mind on the paint. Decided to go with a natural metal finish. So I just re-primed everything in Ultimate gloss black. Still not sure what bare metal I will pick. I may go with something a little different than aircraft aluminum.

Seriously, it was a lot of fun using the foil on this little guy

Funny, I was just re-reading your build thread. As I am in dire need of a pick-me-up I don’t want to tackle anything too challenging. I have the entire range of Vallejo metal finishes begging me to do something with them. Kudos again on your plane. That is a great result!

Was worth a shot ;)
This is such a great little kit you cannot go wrong with it for a mojo builder
The other one I really enjoyed building, Neil is making...Bandai 1/72 X-Wing.
That kit falls together, no cement and looks fantastic
Hope the juices get flowing for ya :cheers2:

Thanks!

I did the first round of masking. Pretty much going by the box art for the red. Will probably add a little more variation with round two.

Not much on the little guy today. I decided to give the engines a little accent color. I used Vallejo Exhaust Manifold to paint the engine bands. I ended up with a nice accent, but a ton of paint peeling that will have to be corrected.

That was careful positioning. :th:

The bottom side is where most of the damage took place. I was not careful about de-tacking the tape. I need to get better at that.

I got a bit more done this afternoon. I detailed the little bombs a bit.
Image

Painted the wheels.
Image

And worked on the props. They were already in gloss black so I sprayed them with chrome. I thought that might give a decent base for the yellow. Here is one of them with the tips painted yellow. Mind you just the tip.
Image

I have since gone back and painted the rest of the blades NATO black by hand. Probably needs another coat to make sure they ate all nice and even.

I assembled everything, just waiting on the props to dry.
Image

Next I will need to decide if I should weather it, and if so, how much.

Thanks for watching.
