I have too many hobbies. My man-cave is a single car garage that I closed in many years ago. It has gone through a few iterations. The space is 20’ long by 11’ wide. I sectioned off my office space (10.5’) from my workspace (8.5’) with a patient curtain that my mom sewed the white part top and bottom. When I put the recessed lighting in, I put the two spaces on separate switches. A lot of time I turn the light on in the back, close the curtains and I get a nice low lighting effect in my office. I say office but I don’t work from home. I should call this the holodeck. I cleared this space out when I got the Oculus Rift so I have enough room for VR.
The workspace is getting a little cluttered because I have too many hobbies. I have R/C planes, but rarely fly anymore. I have weapons and ammo, but rarely shoot anymore. I recently had a passion to start modeling this past year and have been slowly building up my supplies. I need to figure out how I want to rearrange everything. I started out with all of my modeling supplies on my workbench, but then I couldn’t work on anything else. Unfortunately, I really don’t have other places in my house to move this stuff to.
This looks like a version of Where’s Waldo. You’ll have to search to find the kits.
I feel like I need a home make-over to help me sort this out and make the space more usable.

Hello and welcome to ISM
That is a great and eclectic space. You look like you are into a wide variety of subjects which is excellent
I am liking your spitfire, is that rc like the other large planes??
Have a good look around the forum, lots of topics info and builds going on
Currently a Cold War group build and a bomber special interest build both running until the end of August
Let me know if you need any help
Scott

The Spitfire is a Durafly from HobbyKing. I've flown it a few times. It feels like it is slightly under powered and gave me a bit of a sphincter pucker factor when I flew it for the first time. Wasn't sure it would get off the ground.Twokidsnosleep wrote: ↑Tue Jun 12, 2018 6:54 am Hello and welcome to ISM

I guess the first thing I need to figure out is how to be alerted when I get a reply. I thought that would have been automatic.
You're almost 2 months in to you Cold War Group Build, but I do have a Italeri 1/35 M923A1 in my have-not-built-yet kits. I'm looking forward to getting more involved with the community. The last time I remember building models was in the 70's. I remember using Testors cement that got on everything and having maybe 3 Testors paints (black, white and silver). I had zero skills, but now with all the great tutorials and tips through YouTube or forums like these, and kits being much more detailed, I am really looking forward to taking it to another level.

Hop into a GB or sig...we are about halfway through a Bomber sig right now ending August 31st
You don't have to finish, you don't have to be perfect, you don't need to stress about abilities or time
You just have to relax, learn and have fun.
Or just follow along for a bit and make comments and encouragement of others until you are comfortable to do a build thread.
There is no harsh critique here, just helpful encouraging people
BTW, love your area of the world. I have been to Tampa and Clearwater Florida...one of the most beautiful places I have seen
All the Best, Scott

Re: My Hobby shop
So far I haven't found what "sig" is short for. I was thinking signature build? Could you explain that one to me.
Gainesville is centered in North Florida, but it's easy to get anywhere in Florida. In fact, this weekend is the Sarasota offshore boat races. I'm going to run down there to see the boats on display and then pop over to Kennedy Space Center. I haven't been there in about 20 years.

"Special Interest Group"
it means the topic is a little more narrowed in what will be applicable to build
SO for example a drag car only sig vs a more general road car GB (group build)
or a Tiger tank sig vs WWII Tank GB
Capise ???
Are those boats Hydroplanes?? Been down to Seattle to watch that for Sea Fest one summer long long ago
Blue Angels ripping past overhead
Very jealous of the space center...one day I will get there

Re: My Hobby shop
Capisco, grazie.
Not hydrofoils per se. These are more of the Miami Vice drug running boats. I remember asking my father why the front end was so long. He said "that's where they put the drugs."
I did go on the Air Force station to watch one of the shuttles launch. There's supposed to be a Space X launch the same morning I'm going to Sarasota. Maybe the weather will push it off to Sunday (fingers crossed)
