Planeski! #2 -- IL-2 Sturmovik 1/32

Post by Cymru »

With an already busy bench, I wasn't going to enter this. But, inspired by "Chop1sc", I just had to dig this out of the stash....
Also the SO bought me this Sturmovik magazine from the "WARPAINT Series" for Xmas

This a quality kit from Hobby Boss, a joy to assemble :) It's just a real shame that so much of the detail is lost to sight when the fuselage & wing halves are joined up :( Some gun access hatches would have helped. Here is my progress so far...

Nice. loving the detail and looks like i could climb right in.

sometimes wondered if i should have gone with 1/32 as my scale of choice, as the level of detail is far superior. Alas that would mean changing my forum name lol

I have just made a MAJOR mistake :eeek: Instead of just grinding of the flap ribs, I have cut off the entire flap from the wing  :wall:

I blame Eduard's iffy instructions

TKS Bissyboat, quality kit from Hobby Boss & I'm enjoying the build, it should be a stunner! She is currently on hold as I ordered some 1.2mm brass rods from eModels last week only to find that they didn't actually have any :bash: They have put it back-order, and is due this week (maybe).

Shame about the hold up on the brass rod as I was enjoying watching this come together, but it's only just dawned on me that this is 1/32 (I know it's in the thread title! ) It's going to be fairly huge when it's finished?

Lovely work on the cockpit and engine so far though :thumb2:

After being primed she was coated in white then Maskol applied with a scouring sponge. Then MRP Russia green all over. Next was a random camo pattern of MRP Russia brown (darkened with black). Now I have to rub off the Maskol before a mist of white all over.
