Any Old Iron?
Could anyone recommend a precision soldering iron (i.e. fine tipped) and a manufacturer of the correct liquid flux for working with brass PE?

try not to buy paste flux containing acid and same for your solder... make sure
it has no acid flux in it .... to minimize etching... acid flux is mostly used on water Pipes installation.
liquid flux would be nice... mostly used in electronics.
be careful and happy modeling !

Good stuff from the hund
Have a peek at this video one of my heros in modelling

I highly reccomend this book by Ken Foran if you are interested in soldering brass.
Has some good simple tips, supply list and techniques as well as multiple case studies building different subjects to show what can be done. Not a step by step book mind you, but a good beginning and gets you going.
My goal is to make an entire brass something one day

Re: Any Old Iron?
Anyone knows what kind of plating it is on equard pe? Nickel plated? I find them a paint to solder anyway and I want to strip them down to bare brass without having to sand them down, small parts are easily destroyed when doing this.
