What wire for hinges?

Post by SteveAFV »

Amber instructions call for 0.2mm and 0.3mm wire. Soft copper wire? Brass wire? Brass rod?

From photos I've seen looks like brass rod as its way too straight for coiled wire. If so what do you guys cut that with? Regular wire cutters or wire cutters intended for toughened wire? I'm usually quite car full with my tools so I don't want to end up wrecking them cutting rod.

Thanks,

Steve.

Not sure what amber instructions would have you do , BUT

It doesn't matter too much mostly as long as the size is correct.
brass rod is stiff and you can just place your strongest hobby knife blade where you want to cut and roll it backwards and forwards to score then just snap it. Side cutters for soft wire then sand the ends. Blade will chip, but hey its disposable.
