Yay! Panzers in 1/48 my favorite scale. Looking foward to see how this turns out.
There's a Tiger GB? When did it start, how did I miss this?

Awesome, I just might join if I have the time.
Sturm Brightblade, I'm afraid not. My username refers to Sturmgeschütz, Lolz.

May I ask, what inspired this GB? We normally don't build '48th armour.

Soo to start with the amazing fruils that I bought for the kit. Very important to clean and drill properly before burnishing using the brilliant Ultimate burnishing fluid.

Then moved onto the main tank build. Assembling the main parts, not painted yet, mostly just dry fitting, the metal barrel was a VERY tight fit. But the die cast metal chassis was great and the upper hull fit perfectly.

So after the priming stage (Sadly forgot to take pics) using Ultimate primer black, which is amazing stuff, if you dont have some, then get some. I have base coated with tamiya XF-60 and then shaded with XF-1 and Highlighted with XF-2

Sooo after many failed attempts at being happy with the camo. I Just really couldnt be happy with it after 3 attempts. I am going to stick with Dunkelgelb for the main tank colour. But then the PE grills arrived and I scratch built the small Conduit wires for the headlights. So it then needed re-priming using Ultimate black primer

Image

Image

Image

Then it was time to do the small detail painting (again) But this time I was happy with the colour and highlighting. After that It was time for a gloss coat and time for a pin wash with the AK dark yellow wash for german tanks. although hard to see. to the eye it is a massive improvement

Gloss coat put down with Alclad Aqua gloss. Then decals put down. Then onto some chipping. went a little bit mad but there is still ALOT of weathering to do. Oil dot filters, pigments and such. The light painted areas are for the "Cleaner" paint. where the tracks would have been mounted and the skirts once where. and only now I can see the seem line on the fiefel filters :(

That's a beautiful finish with great chipping. Brilliant. Are you leaving some parts off until later like the spare tracks and cupola hatch rest?

TIME FOR MUD!!! I started with a really dark very grass first layer of mud using PVA, water, Pigment, Ultimate dark dirt wash and flock, then applied heavily to the areas where it would ahh gather, but I feel i put tooo much on. I will later come along with lighter mud and dirt textures

Well, tonight I took a break from the tank as I have run out of dunkelgelb so I will have to run to the shop tomorrow  So instead I thought I may as well make some progress on the Diorama. Starting by making the canal/stream banks. then realising I will need more clay, I made just the canal/stream area then the rest will be filled with filler. And yes, I know its big. I get told that all the time ;)

Image

I also made the little crossing out of A4 foam sheets. engraved the stones and then faded and dry brushed.

Doesnt look great now. BUT it will soon come together
