Hey guys im sure there has to be a few of you that can give a good recommendation on a spitfire model. Im for all intent and purpose a nubie to modeling even thought I've been pluging thies things together in one shape or mess since boyhood. I am looking for something preferably 1:48.

It's not a 1:48 but i heared the Revell MK.II Spitfire in 1:32 is pretty good and not that expensive
But if you really want a 1:48 then i think Eduard is a good option like Jack said
They have a lot of different versions and in several price ranges like the weekend editions (cheapest) or the profipacks wich have resin parts and photo etch aswell
And even those aren't extremely expensive
In the Netherlands they cost about 30 euro's for a profi pack and 20 to 25 for a weekend edition

The Airfix new tool Spits are great. Good value, brand new tooling, nice detail and easy to build. Since coming back to the hobby in January I have made their Mk1, their Seafire and their PR Spit XIX. All 3 have been a dream.

A brilliant combination of quality, price and user-friendliness.

Like you I'm trying to get back into this hobby and the Spitfire my favourite plane from World War Two. I'd suggest the Tamiya 1/48 Spitfire mk 1 or mk 5. Cheap to purchase and easy to build. Once you have a tad more practice then the Eduard Spits look great and I've got one for myself to do once I've improved the skills. Most important is to have fun

I've built the Tamiya Mk I 1/48 Spitfire twice now, finishing up the PR.IG conversion. It's a great kit, readily available, around $22 US from Amazon. I'm thinking about picking up another!

I can concur with the Tamiya 1/48th and Revell 1/32 vote both really nice kits and a very good start back into the hobby, the Revell being the slightly more difficult of the two for me (I've build both since the new year).

Thanks for all the advice. Imanaged to find an Edward kit at the local hobby store ( only an hour and a bit drive). The kit is amazing for fit and i can only hope to do it justice. I have a feeling it will be only the first of many spitfires
