Awesome! I'm working the exact same kit at the moment. I'll be posting my building shortly....at least just to the forum. I've just completed the assembly today, but won't get to painting it until next month. I'll be watching your progress! Great work so far, looks like you've filled the same EPM's and cut up the same armor plates as I have. It will be my first tank, so we'll see how it turns out!

Have you looked at Tamyia's new Jagdpanzer kit? it recently came out , I think it would look good next this one. Jagdpanzer IV L/70 I believe was the kit name.

"Stug Life" GB: StuG IV Update 2

Poor bug...

Nature's best design: A black cat

Image

I added putty and prepared the Stug for the priming phase

Image

Keep that away from me!!

Image

Ok... that hurt

Image

Image

B*****d

Image

:O

Image

Those plates had it worse

Image

I'm afraid that a Stug was harmed in the making of this thread

Image

Ok. That's how the poor guy is gonna look

Image

Everything was primed with Tamiya grey primer

Image

The saukopf was painted with hull red

Image

and the plates were painted as well

Image

Some wheels have been replaced on the field and are also painted in hull red

Image

There's a slight modulation with darker colours on the lower parts

Image

Image

A few paint splotches were carefully sanded

Image

I used several grey tones and a little bit of iron to recreate the barrel factory primer

Image

I added different grey tones on that concrete

Image

Looking good...

Image

I added sand yellow on those wheels

Image

Exhaust was painted with mahagony

Image

I added salt on the main plates

Image

...and painted those crosses with a small brush

Image

I took this pic as a model (Eastern Front Mig)

Image

I removed salt with water and lightened scratched areas

Image

I'm quite happy with it :)

Image

I washed those plates with enamel and before they dried I added rust pigments

Image

Image

Decals!

Image

I rusted the exhaust too

Image

Finally the Stug was washed with the same enamel concoction

Image

I cleaned surfaces carefully with good quality cotton fabric

Image

Looks cool

Image

Darker rust pigments were added

Image

I went on with an oil dot filter on the barrel and the concrete parts

Image

Image

That's how it looks after washing it with white spirit

Image

Image

I added iron on those bullet holes

Image

Image

Image

The poor bug is riddled with bullets

Image

I lightened exposed parts to prepare them for chipping

Image

There it is... I used Mig's 044; awesome stuff

Image

I added a little bit of iron in key areas

Image

And that's it! Ready for winter seasoning

Image

Image

Image

Image

Image

"Stug Life" GB: StuG IV Update 3

Winter is coming...

Stug from the chippy. I deep fried it with Mig scratches effects (chipping)

Image

More masking preparations...

Image

Bullet holes and decals are protected

Image

Maskol festival

Image

Winter has definitely come

Image

Old hard brush + Water

Image

After a matt varnish coat I washed it carefully with this enamel wash

Image

More pigments were fixed with the same wash

Image

White camo was scratched and then I added a wash and rust pigments

Image

Looking good!

Image

Wheels have been painted and washed

Image

Plane guy strategy

Image

Tracks were airbrushed with a reddish coat and on top of it iron was added

Image

Matt barnish... (let it dry!) + track wash

Image

Wheels are prepared for chipping effects

Image

I used white washable camo again

Image

...and scratched it with an old brush

Image

I added the wheels...

Image

I went on painting tools paying attention to little details

Image

I used iron, Mig chipping and fixed rust pigments with a (brown wash)

Image

I blended tools with the Stug adding a light touch of diluted white camo

Image

Image

I added iron on tracks and small elements

Image

Russian earth was fixed with a wash

Image

Additional chipping

Image

I rusted those tracks a little bit

Image

..and of course I added those adorable rust streaks

Image

Rrrust Streaks (Quite addictive)

Image

Finally, I used some grime and oil

Image

And that's it. It's almost ready for a thuggy dio

What's the name of that sleepy boy? I had a black cat for 18 years, he went to the cat house in the spectrum realm back in January - he look just like yours so I had to ask. Such a great pet to have.

"Stug Life" GB StuG IV Update 4 & Final Reveal

TIMBER!!!

Planning the scene on styrofoam

Image

Styro-digging; We want the Stug "in", not "on"

Image

First layer of white clay. We let it dry...

Image

A second layer is added. It looks ok

Image

Dry. Now we can work on it

Image

Real soil + white glue

Image

We let it dry (24h... or more!)

Image

I'm using coarse marble dust and white glue on that road

Image

Looking good...

Image

I'm adding this gravel on the road

Image

Not bad

Image

Just branded those track prints before it was completely dry

Image

Vegetation: Tall grass, small branches...

Image

..and "sea foam"

Image

I'm going to start with that road

Image

The first layer is quite diluted. I'll keep on adding layers till it has consistency. I've added some Russian Earth pigments

Image

Looks good

Image

I added three layers of snow+still water allowing each one to dry at least twelve hours, the first layer was more waterish and the other two layers were thicker. I came across a little problem; sea foam has natural tanines and I had to whiten that snow a little bit more

Image

I'm going to create a dam

Image

An icy swimming pool with a little bit of grey acrylics

Image

After a while (30min) tracks can be branded

Image

Adding Russian Earth

Image

Seams around the "box" are corrected with putty

Image

The base is primed

Image

It mimics the Stug's colours

Image

Letters are hand-brushed

Image

Image

A few bullet holes look good :)

Image

Washable white is added

Image

You can remove it with water if you don't wait too much

Image

I'm using white glue and snow for those seams

Image

You can build your own customised pole

Image

Sealing the Stug with white glue and snow

Image

I'll fix the mess with pigments and a layer of Vallejo still water and snow

Image

I let the glue dry (24h) while I attack that pole

Image

I'm usig a couple of brown colours

Image

..and a dark wash

Image

Ok. The glue is not completely dry so I can brand more track prints

Image

Pigments are added

Image

I've just dry-brushed the pole with whitish tones

Image

I'm going to use real copper for those wires

Image

Image

The china stuff is ready... I've added gloss

Image

Looks crazy!

Image

Image

Finally I've added mud and a last layer of snow + still water

Image
