1/48 Hasegawa Blue Impulse T-4

Since I am waiting for my entry into the Modern Armour SIG to arrive in the mail, I figured I would join this group build.

The kit I have chosen is the Hasegawa Blue Impulse T-4. In the box you get three kits total, a F-86F (I have that one just about ready for primer), a T-2 and the T-4. I am going to skip the T-2 for now and go on to the T-4.

The kit itself has good surface detail, with no flash for the most part. The pilot figures has some flash on them but I do not plan on using them so that is not a problem for me. The is small seam lines from the molds on some sprues, a quick swipe with a hobby knife and they will be gone. The biggest draw back to this kit is some of the warped sprues. Not sure if that will cause issues, time will tell on that one. The cockpit has good surface detail, with the option of painting everything or using decals. I am undecided as to which route I will take. There is a seam line on the canopy that will need to be dealt with as well.

So I have the cockpit completed and weathered. I chose to not use the decals and hand paint all the details. Everything that was supposed to black was brush painted, and then dry brushed with silver. I used some home brewed washes, a dark colour and rust colour. I am happy with how it turned out, one of the better cockpits that I have built.



I also painted the inside of the plane around the cockpit, the external fuel tanks were also glue and sanded ready for primer. The intakes have had the injection marks filled were they can be seen and glued together also ready for primer. Unfortunately I am waiting for the postman to bring some Mig Ammo primer. I have not tried it yet, but it has to be better then Vallejo primer.

I do need to weather the inside of the cockpit walls still.

Thank you. I have joined the fuselage together. I have put this one on hold for a bit so that I could work on my Modern Amour SIG. It is a different subject that you do not see everyday, the painting is going to interesting.
