Thats a great job, and just the right amount of PE.
I know to my cost and my OCD, that getting a sheet of PE means using it all, right?
No!
It can get very tiring and just damn frustrating after a while and then the fun goes.
At that point, its a command decision to stop and check, and just settle on a good job so far.
Your doing an ace job mate.

OliveDrab wrote:Looking Good! You could go with the all black primer, then go lighter with your basecoat of RAL7008 in the corners and edges, allowing some of your black primer to "show through". Just a thought, as I personally have not tried this method yet, and not sure how well your RAL7008 will cover the black primer coat  I totally understand your comments on the PE, I'm using quite a bit of it on my Tiger and loving the look...but NOT something I would do often. This build is special though :)
Thanks for your input. I too I'm interested in how the RAL 7008 will cover the black. I do not want to make it too Green,, I'm going to do it and see how it turns out. Then adjust if needed.

Looking good ! Understand and support you about the PE ...very nice , give great detail , but sometimes could be frustrating the time that you spend bending and gluing microscopic parts , and as you mention fun is gone ...

Base coat of RAL7008 is complete....: Like it, I think.. it's different.. not as green as I thought it would be..it's a little bit more greener then the picture show. Tomorrow I will lighten the RAL7008 and add highlights to the to surfaces.

Painted the Feifel filters Dunkelgrau as per reference pictures of Tiger 142

Image

I'll have to trim up the air intake flex hoses they look like crap !

Image

painted the interior of the turret with Cremeweiss from Mig, just have to give it a wash, it will not be seen anyway

Image

Road wheels are complete as well, Whatever I paid for the Quickwheel painting jig was well worth it !!! :thumb2:

Gloss coat is on. Made some modifications. . Removed the kit tow cables and installed P.E. version. Placed them with the eyes, on the rear of the tank. added spare track links below the smoke canisters on both right and left hand turret sides. these mods are IAW my recent research on Tiger 142 . Also swapped out the kit smoke canister/launcher with P.E. added a pail to the aft end. will also will add a bedroll on the left side of the turret storage bin. these too, added IAW from a picture of 142 with a pail and bed roll on the tank.

Started working on my small diorama base.

Started out with a piece of pink polystyrene. the type used for house insulation. made the terrain using a lighter to create a terrain. simply using a lighter at about 8-10 inches away. The heat causes the foam to recede in very predictable and controllable ways. Passing the lighter back and forth directionally produces very convincing swells and rhythms. ( Also a good technique to create a seascape. You can make very natural ocean swells and undulations as well. )
Image

Then added Vallejo desert sand texture. I smooth the texture with a piece of sponge. Then primed with AK Dark yellow primer.
Image

added small ballast and rocks. , ready for a base coat of Desert Yellow

Decals on... wheels attached.

While attaching the wheels I was trying to figure out why the outer set of wheels were not fitting right.. Figured out that I assembled a set of the inner wheels backwards. Had to saw/cut the wheels apart and re-attached the correct way with CA.

what they should of looked like.(L) How I initially assembled wheels(Mid). what they looked like cut apart.(R)

Mock up of the diorama. dio base not yet painted.
