I'm thinking of adding another airbrush to my workbench. I have a Badger 200 that I've had for 25 years or so. Works just great but has a bit of a narrow spray pattern for large area work. I also have a cheap double-action siphon feed from Harbor Freight (vendor of Chinese import tools here in the US). What I'm after is a decent gravity feed double-action that won't break the bank. As much as I'd love a top of the line airbrush I just can't afford one. I've considered the Iwata Neo, Paasche TG#2L Talon, and the Badger Patriot 105, all of which I can get for well under $100 (£59), which is pretty much the limit of my budget (or somewhat beyond, to be totally honest).
Which of these would be recommended? To be honest I lean towards the Badger since I already have a braided hose that will fit, but am not averse to going with another airbrush. Any other recommendations?

If you want a great airbrush for under $100 that is still considered a top-line brush get yourself an Iwata Revolution (CR or BR). You can purchase either from here:Tarasdad wrote:I'm thinking of adding another airbrush to my workbench. I have a Badger 200 that I've had for 25 years or so. I have both the BR and CR and they are simply the best airbrush for the money! The CR comes with a .5mm nozzle/needle and the BR comes with a .3mm set. Of course, you can always change the parts to suit your preferences in terms of nozzle/needle combinations.

Hmm, the Iwata Revolution CR is very, very tempting indeed. Just need to save enough pennies for one.

Re: Airbrush recommendation?
That's true. The Evo and Infinity are pretty expensive around these parts though but the Ultra should be within his price range. I haven't tried one and that's why I didn't recommend it but from your videos it looks like it's pretty good. I may really need to try one myself too...Paul wrote:You won't go wrong with any of the harder steenbecks the ultra Evo or infinity

Re: Airbrush recommendation?
I'm also a beginner in the modelling world but also looking out to buy my first airbrush...
Would a starterset like this be sufficient?

Or are there better options? I have about 200€-250€ to spend on everything (airbrush and compressor).

Re: Airbrush recommendation?
That's a pretty good starting set. As mentioned, I own the CR model and it's one of my personal favorites. As to the compressor, those Iwata ones are pretty good. The only issue for me, personally, is that it doesn't come with a tank, which I prefer over these tank-less ones.bobbewieter wrote:I'm also a beginner in the modelling world but also looking out to buy my first airbrush...

Re: Airbrush recommendation?
If you have arthritis in your hands, Grex airbrushes with the pistol grip are great. They are more expensive than standard trigger airbrushes, but they are worth it in my opinion. I have the Tritium TG with both the 0.3mm and 0.2mm needles.
Re: Airbrush recommendation?
My compressor crapped out and looking into what was available, I went to my local Harbor Freight and bought a small tanked, oil less compressor for 60.00 US. The tank pressure is 90 psi but with an added manifold, separator, and regulator I still got less than 100 invested. Buy the cheap bulk compressor and get the better air brush!! You won't regret it.
No one said it would be easy, only that it would be worth it..
